My sports series was mainly inspired by the challenges Taiwan athletes have faced this year. A few of these challenges made global news, such as controversy towards athletes’ gender and the banning of our flag. I chose to express my pieces through the use of well-known Taiwanese brands, and brands that originated from Taiwan.
Experiencing this year’s Olympics not only made me grow as an athlete. But helped me learn what it means to be Taiwanese. To be proud of our values and what we believe in.
It’s to stay strong and perform on bad days.
It’s to be the first to take a step and leave a name in the history books.
It’s when people believe and not lose faith
It’s to carry the weight of our own and everyone’s expectations.
It’s when a woman doesn’t need to care what the world thinks about her.
It’s when our flag and names are banned people go creative.
I am proud to be part of the team.
