Sometimes Blue

By Jasmyn SAIA

“Sometimes Blue” is the opening note of my thesis, “Love & War”. This body of work began as a means to explore my experiences with suppressed expression, moments where fear has kept my voice, feelings, and truth quiet beneath the surface.

My name is Jasmyn Saia. SAIA, Self Awareness In Action, is my lineage and my practice, shaping my perception of life and the way I approach my artistry.

Through generational lineage, we inherit not just stories, but silences. Trauma, shame, and unspoken beliefs seep into our bloodlines, shaping the way we move, speak, and withhold. Through my practice, I’ve borne witness to this inheritance within myself. With “Sometimes Blue,” I confront it, revealing the alchemy of expression and the liberation that comes when we choose to honor and express our own voice, our perspective, our existence.

The color blue has long been associated with sadness, but with this series, I reimagine blue in a different context, a vessel of power, truth, and freedom.
